Short Term Effects Of Type 2 Diabetes

Type-2-DiabetesType 2 diabetes is a condition that is diagnosed or discovered in people who are over the age of 40. Diabetes mellitus is the clinical term to refer to and it occurs when the level of sugar or glucose in the blood goes higher than normal. Type I and type 2 diabetes are the main types of diabetes that afflicts many people.

The Blood Glucose And Insulin Combination

When one has eaten, the food that is consumed is broken down in the gut into simple blood sugar. The sugar in the form of glucose passes into the bloodstream ad this is taken up by the cells in order to make energy. Some cells convert such energy into fat and store them. In between meals, the blood glucose level starts to fall and that is when the insulin level also begins to fall. Glucogen or fat then gets converted into glucose which is released into the bloodstream from the cells. Insulin is created by the beta cells. These are the cells that are located within the pancreas. Insulin production and functioning is impaired in diabetes.
