Many people believe they know everything about this disease, but it is not true. It is well known that this disease affects blood sugar and that diet is important for controlling it. Aging of the skin is a natural process, leaving problems such as crow’s feet and wrinkles behind. Anyway, changes like dark patches on the skin, particularly on the elbows, knuckles and back of the neck can be a sign of diabetes.
These changes are triggered by a condition known as acanthosis nigrican and high blood sugar is related with the skin cells and melanin growth.
These problems can be solved with losing weight or applying a topical ointment given by your dermatologist.
3. Changes In Your Hearing
Not only aging, but diabetes can affect you hearing as well. A study conducted by the National Institutes of Health says hearing loss can be caused by pre-diabetes. The characteristics of this condition are higher sugar levels which are higher than normal but below what would be considered diabetic. It is linked to 30% increase in hearing loss.
Experts believe diabetes hurts blood vessels and nerves in the ear, causing poor hearing. So, think about testing your blood sugar levels.
4. Improvement of Your Vision
If your vision is getting stronger over the years, it may indicate that you are having blood sugar levels.
Diabetes is a condition that is often related with poorer vision, but is some cases it can improve vision. It occurs as a result of the change in fluid levels in the eyes that diabetes triggers.
Sometimes you cannot be sure that your health conditions are fine because the disease can manifest itself with unusual ways.
